even if mike & bethany are the only ones who ever read this, i am going to give it a shot. not because i think i have anything worth saying to the world and not because i'm a writer or a pro- blogger or even incredibly exciting.... but because i know that God has done things in and around me that deserve to be told. i also have a really spread out circle of family and friends that don't see me every week to know what's going on in my little corner of the world.
some of you (is anyone reading this yet?) have heard me share about the "I spy" notebook that my parents kept when i was a kid. they kept this notebook that said "I spy" in the front. anytime we'd see God do a mighty act in our lives, we'd write that we "spied" God at work. this memory makes me think of psalm 145: 4 that says one generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts. that's what my parents did. and i am changed because of their faithfulness.
i hope this blog doesn't make you, the reader, just feel warm and fuzzy. moreso, i hope you are challenged to tell of God's mighty works in your life. post them on the comments if you will. i really want this blog, whether short or long lived, to tell of the greatness of God.
here's a few things on my "i spy" list since the beginning of the summer:
- thanks God for a great memorial day weekend with family & my sister's graduation
- thanks God for safe traveling during all my long drives this summer
- thanks God for doing an awesome work through our church garage sale that raised over $12,000 for world vision & helped at least a dozen refugee families
- thanks God for the americorp job my sister was offered, a perfect fit for her giftings
- thanks God for the awesome summer trip my brother had to dallas & the awesome time my other brother is having in china right now
- thanks God for the chance to meet several ladies from darfur, and hear their stories of courage-i was truly blessed by them
- thanks God for new students in the esl class that i help teach & new volunteers to help teach the kids!
- thanks God for a fabulous time with extended family in los angeles, for my cousin nick's wedding
- thanks God for a new partnership between our church & an orphanage in kenya
- thanks God for renewed friendships with old friends, near and far, and the encouragement they have been to my heart
- thanks God for the work in my heart, learning more each day about the heart of God and how to follow after him

Awesome! Praise the Lord!
Thank you, Father, for the opportunity to speak at Brotherhood Mutual - please speak through me.
I spied God working through Prince Caspian as I read to my kids tonight! That was awesome too!
we're so excited to see what God is doing. He is so good.
love you, miss you.
having trouble posting, so this might be like the 3rd time I posted this, but hi anyway. Or it might be the first. Can I steal "I spy"? I would like to do that around here.
I will read your entry soon... just checked my email right before work and saw your email :)
I was just thinking about you last night.
I met someone 3 weeks ago that lives in Ft. Wayne... I think you'd be great friends.
Thanks for your text message!
MISS YOU!
