days turn to hours turn to seconds

i am pretty sure i am counting down the seconds until election day is over.

decisions, annoying ads, commercials full of hate and twisted truth...i hate it all (except the SNL skits of course)

this has been absolutely agonizing to me. i was leaning one way, then another, then i was prepared not to vote for the office of president. in the last 24 hours, literally, i have come to a decision. not one i am thrilled with, but one that i have a certain level of peace with. this election has been extremely deep to me, i'm not sure if it's possible but it feels as though i have taken this way toooo seriously.

this post is not about who to vote for, it's about who to put our trust in.

my trust is not in my vote
my trust is not in a man
my trust is in the Lord, our strong tower
my trust is in Jesus, our rock

there are pros and cons to each outcome, but lives will be affected no matter what. our children and grandchildren will be affected by what happens tomorrow. our nation will be affected. unborn babies and genocide will be affected. my point is this- pray. God is sovereign no matter how messy it looks. pray, not just for the election, but for everything you can manage to think of. pray that our country would see Jesus. pray that we would trust in Him.

pray for barack right now as he grieves the death of his grandmother today
pray for the close to 4000 women who today will abort their babies in this country
pray for the candidates for positions big and small
pray for an end to the war in iraq, the conflict in congo, the genocide in darfur
pray for the millions who will be disappointed when their candidate does not win
pray that the millions passionate about "change"- red and blue- would be mobilized to action
pray for racial reconciliation in our nation
pray for the Church to engage in the issues no matter the outcome

pray to the Lord our Rock and trust in Him alone
