this is what daily burdens my heart. how can we, the Church, do more? we must. in the words of a song by michael w smith, "every day spent on the fence bears another fatal consequence... we can't wait any longer"
you and i might both sit here watching this thinking about how our futures can make a difference for these children. yet 24,000 will not have a future beyond today. another 24,000 more will not have a future past tomorrow. another 24,000 will not have a future beyond monday. and those are just the numbers of children under 5 that will die each day from preventable disease and malnutrition. it does not include war, abuse, and other causes of death.
this weighs on me every day.
Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
we can't wait any longer.
Jeremiah 22:16
"He defended the cause of the poor and needy, and so all went well. Is that now what it means to know me?" declares the Lord.
Psalm 140:12
I know that the Lord secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy.
not for the cause, but for the Cross
