i was wondering last night... why do we ignore the poor in our country? is it just me, or do we only talk to the rich and the middle class?
this does not sit well with me. i have no profound conclusions at the moment, but will share something i read on Sojourners today:

Because the poor are not a very sought after voting bloc. Especially when wall street's house of cards is caving in on itself and so many in the middle and upper class are losing a substantial chunk of their income and retirement. We will need to be in a time of prosperity again for politician's to pay more then lip service to this. That's why we should count on the government to do zero. Sorry if I sound jaded, but I truly believe it.
