seasons

i am convinced again and again that God is the God of seasons. i experience seasons of life, seasons of pain and joy, seasons of friendships, seasons of schools and apartments, seasons of ministry and vision, and seasons of learning vs teaching.

sometimes there's a longing in me to find consistency, but then i examine that desire and realize i am confusing that with wanting security and comfort. in the end, i don't want to be after these things if it means looking anywhere other than Jesus Christ. i want to rest in the security of God's character and his love that never changes. and in light of those truths, i want to enjoy this crazy adventure no matter what the changing seasons bring,

the caution i hear God telling my heart is to rest in the seasons, but not in any sin. he reminds me that seasons of pain are allowed by him for growth and transformation, but are not always a result of righteousness. he reminds me to be on my knees before him begging him to show me if there is any unrighteousness in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (psalm 139).

i am on the verge of a season change in several ways, and i have both fear and hope. but i choose to trust in the Lord my Rock.

Ecclesiastes 3
A Time for Everything
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,

5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,

6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,

7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,

8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

9 What does the worker gain from his toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on men. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

hebrews 11
8By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

James 1
17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

deut 32
4 He is the Rock, his works are perfect,
and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he.
