i'm a facebook junkie and discovered today that in the causes application, you have a "cause profile" that lists which causes you belong to and how many people you have recruited.
i wandered into mine and was intrigued at what i found.

i realize facebook is a bit silly but it's a tool that can be used to make impact. it's not the only tool, or even the best neccessarily, but it exists and can be used. it's interesting to me that facebook uses the term "your impact"- it's quite empowering actually.
we each have tools, and circles of influence. and the most exciting thing is that those people have tools, and circles of influence. and so on.
what will you do with your tools?
who will you invite to share your passions and make a difference in the world?
my favorite quote in all the world was on world team's publication materials the year that i went to urbana.
not for the cause, but for the cross
it's not about having a lot of causes on your facebook profile, or recruiting 14 people to put world vision or compassion or other causes on their profiles. it's about using your tools, your gifts, your relationships to make an impact - and do it all because of the cross of Christ.
causes might fade. leaders of a cause may disappoint. but Jesus lives and we do not labor in vain if we do it to glorify him.
for Christ's love compels us...
2 cor 5:14
remember, this is not about me and my "impact" on facebook (ha!). it's about asking you, begging you rather, to make an impact where ever you go. be passionate. be a history maker. by the power of Jesus, make an impact and watch the ripple. even if you think only 13 people in the whole world care about the same things you do- remember that those 13 might make 52 or even 65 when the day is done.
Carry your candle, run to the darkness
Seek out the helpless, deceived and poor
Hold out your candle for all to see it
Take your candle, and go light your world
please understand these words are written humbly, with great conviction that i do not carry my candle everywhere i go. as you go, pray for strength for me and your other brothers and sisters in this race.
hebrews 12
1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
