... my parents bought a house in San Diego, CA where my dad had his first pastoring job. across the street was a nice family that we got to know, and i became friends with their daughter Alysia. i was 4-5 and she was 6-7. my mom says we'd sit on the sidewalk and talk across the street to each other when we couldn't play. i think she was my first friend to come over for a sleepover.

twenty years later, after twenty family christmas cards exchanged, alysia & i got back in touch.

she & her husband were praying about moving to africa. i was praying about moving to africa. we both wanted to learn swahili.

i was working with refugees. she & her husband soon moved into a community of refugees in GA.

they read my blog & we email, and have gotten to know each other all over again. and yesterday we talked for the first time in twenty two years! i can hardly believe it, it's so amazing!

Praise God for the way he works!

all of a sudden, after only having played together as kids, we have more in common than I could ever imagine!

this was an "I Spy" moment in my life & i am so encouraged by our friendship!

and now she's going to crack up when she sees this blog! :)

Yes- I'm cracking up and so blessed beyond belief that God would reconnect us and build so many parallels between us! I was surely spurred on by our delving into every subject we could think of...and now have even more questions to ask! :)
