700 billion

i watched our president speak last night about his plan to bail out the financial institutions in this current crisis, with $700 billion. that number keeps running through my head. wow.

i believe the Church needs to be engaged in this situation, but i don't know what and how right now. i have much to learn about economics, but i can pray. i can pray for wisdom for our leaders, justice for the poor and hurting, and courage to act as God leads. voting in the november election is not our primary responsibility as believers in this country, we must engage in the issues. i'm still learning a lot about how to do this, begging God to help me know what and when and how.

700 billion? is this a good solution?

i'd love to hear your thoughts on this...

here's a link to andrew hoffman's blog where he wrote about this today also, i thought i'd share:

also, you can go to http://sojourners.com/ for the God's Politics blogs & action items related to this.

here's one quote from today's SoJo blog:

For those of us with the time to write, read, and comment on blogs, let us not forget our neighbors who must spend that time looking for work or food. Let us who have an empty guest room not forget those whose only ceiling tonight will be the stars and only bed a bench. Times are hard, and it is in times like these that the body of Christ must act as such by recommitting ourselves to bringing good news to the poor, healing the sick, welcoming the stranger, and feeding the hungry. Our faith in the ways of the world has failed us yet again. Let us recommit ourselves to the ways of God’s kingdom.

lunch break is over.... i'm out
